Ras Al Khaimah Police Arrests Gang for Promoting Counterfeit Foreign Currency

The Ras Al Khaimah Police General Command, in collaboration with the Criminal Investigation Department of the Ministry of Interior, successfully arrested a gang of three individuals of Arab nationalities involved in possessing and promoting counterfeit foreign currency. The operation resulted in the seizure of $7.5 million in counterfeit U.S. dollars.

The case unfolded when police received a tip-off about a businessman in Ras Al Khaimah, working alongside two accomplices, attempting to circulate counterfeit U.S. currency to accumulate illegal wealth. In response, a special task force from the Department of Criminal Investigation at Ras Al Khaimah Police was immediately formed.

Using confidential sources, the authorities tracked the suspects and caught them in possession of samples of counterfeit currency. Subsequent searches of their homes led to the discovery and seizure of $7.5 million in counterfeit bills. The suspects were arrested, and legal action was initiated, referring them to the Public Prosecution for further proceedings.

Ras Al Khaimah Police reiterated that currency counterfeiting—whether for possession or promotion—is a serious criminal offense punishable by law. Such activities threaten national economic stability and undermine financial trust in both domestic and international markets.

Authorities urged the public to stay vigilant against fraudulent financial activities, report any suspicions of counterfeit currency to the police immediately, and avoid involvement in any illicit financial schemes.

By swiftly addressing counterfeiting crimes, Ras Al Khaimah Police continues to uphold security, protect economic sustainability, and support the country’s progress and financial integrity.
