The General Command of Ras Al Khaimah Police, through its Punitive and Correctional Institution Department, celebrated Inmate’s Day—coinciding with Nelson Mandela International Day on July 18—by organizing a family forum under the slogan “Family is the Best.” The event, held in collaboration with the Emirates Cancer Society and the Gemstone Vocational Training Center, aimed to honor inmates and focus on their reform and rehabilitation, highlighting the importance of their integration into society and the support of human rights, gender equality, and the promotion of reconciliation and peace.

The celebration was attended by Colonel Ali Embassy, Acting Director of the Punitive and Correctional Institution, Major Abdul Rahman Al-Har, Head of the Correction and Rehabilitation Section, Major Fahd Heikal from the General Directorate of Human Rights at the Ministry of Interior, and Major Amal Hassan Al-Obed, Manager of the Rehabilitation and Training Branch and Head of the Women’s Police Team in Ras Al Khaimah. Dr. Maya Al Hawari, the first Emirati doctor specializing in emotional intelligence, along with other police officers, inmates, and their families, were also present.

Dr. Maya Al Hawari emphasized enhancing family cohesion and emotional intelligence to aid in the rehabilitation and reintegration of inmates. She focused on training inmates in emotional intelligence skills to help them manage emotions and interact with others effectively and kindly. Major Fahd Heikal highlighted the significance of family cohesion, positivity, and the impact of values like honesty, integrity, and trustworthiness on personal relationships and life.

The event included various activities such as cultural competitions, the distribution of valuable gifts to inmates and their families by the Emirates Cancer Society, and entertainment shows to bring joy and happiness to attendees. This initiative aligns with the Ministry of Interior's strategy to enhance the quality of security life within the community.
