Joint Coordination Meeting Between Ras Al Khaimah Police and the National Human Rights Institution

H.E. Major General Ali Abdullah bin Alwan Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-Chief of Ras Al Khaimah Police, received H.E. Maqsoud Kruse, Chairman of the National Human Rights Institution of the United Arab Emirates, in the presence of H.E. Brigadier Jamal Ahmed Al Tair, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Ras Al Khaimah Police, as well as general directors, their deputies, and senior officers.

Also present were Dr. Ahmed Al Mansoori and Dr. Abdulaziz Al Noman, members of the Institution’s Board of Trustees; Dr. Saeed Al Ghafli, Secretary-General of the Institution; Amr Al-Qahtani, Director of the Institution Chairman's Office; Abdulaziz Al Oubthani, Head of International and Regional Organizations Section; Fatima Al Hosani, Head of the Awareness and Education Section; and Kleitham Al Kaabi.


This visit was part of efforts to strengthen coordination and cooperation aimed at developing policies and legislation related to the protection of human rights, thereby enhancing security-related quality of life within the society. The goal is to position the UAE as a distinguished humanitarian model in promoting and safeguarding human rights through the development of plans, ideas, and initiatives aligned with the highest international standards.

H.E. the Commander-in-Chief of Police welcomed the Chairman of the National Human Rights Institution. The meeting included an overview of the National Human Rights Institution’s key responsibilities, such as promoting human rights awareness among society members, outlining the mechanisms for submitting recommendations to the competent authorities, and the process of receiving and studying human rights complaints in accordance with approved standards and taking the necessary legal actions, in cooperation with international human rights organizations.

H.E. Major General Ali bin Alwan affirmed Ras Al Khaimah Police’s commitment to supporting the policies of the National Human Rights Institution, particularly in implementing all procedures and laws related to the protection of human rights, women and children’s rights, the rights of inmates in Punitive and Correctional Establishments, labor rights, and the rights of people of determination, in accordance with the UAE Constitution, which guarantees civil rights and freedoms for all individuals and states that all people are equal before the law without discrimination.
He praised the efforts of the National Human Rights Institution of the United Arab Emirates in safeguarding freedoms, defending human rights, and upholding human dignity.

The visit was concluded with a field tour during which the Institution’s delegation was briefed on the best approved practices in the areas of public engagement and the protection of rights during police procedures.
