Ras Al Khaimah Police Commander-in-Chief Launches GCC Traffic Week 2025 Under the Theme “Driving Without a Phone”

Major General Ali Abdullah bin Alwan Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-Chief of Ras Al Khaimah Police, inaugurated the activities of GCC Traffic Week 2025 under the theme “Driving Without Phone,” at Manar Mall, in the presence of Brigadier Jamal Ahmed Al Tair, Deputy Commander-in-Chief, Brigadier Ahmed Al-Sam Al-Naqbi, Director General of Central Operations, alongside directors, deputies, department heads, and a large number of officers.

Major General Ali Abdullah bin Alwan Al Nuaimi emphasized the significance of annually commemorating GCC Traffic Week, which plays a pivotal role in promoting joint efforts among Ministries of Interior, Police General Commands, and Traffic Departments across the GCC. These efforts aim to enhance road safety, ensure the security of road users, and protect their lives and property.

His Excellency highlighted that the awareness side of the event targets all segments of society, especially drivers and road users, fostering a stronger traffic safety culture and supporting the Ministry of Interior’s strategic goals to reduce accidents and associated human and material losses to a minimum.

The event commenced with the Ras Al Khaimah Police Band playing the UAE national anthem. In his speech, Brigadier Al-Naqbi expressed gratitude for the presence of the Commander-in-Chief and his Deputy, acknowledging his continuous support for police and traffic initiatives in the emirate.

He pointed out that statistics from the Ministry of Interior indicate that numerous traffic accidents are caused by the use of mobile phones while driving and drivers' distraction, which highlights the significance of this year’s GCC Traffic Week theme, “Driving Without Phone.” Stressing the need for collective cooperation from institutions, individuals, drivers, and road users to ensure the campaign’s success through strict adherence to traffic rules and regulations, and by refraining from using mobile phones while driving or crossing the road. He reaffirmed that traffic safety is a shared objective pursued by all Police General Commands and Traffic Authorities across the UAE.

The ceremony featured a short awareness video that included a set of guidelines and recommendations aimed at promoting adherence among road users, thereby enhancing road security and the safety of its users. Additionally, school students presented artistic performances that reflected the nature and spirit of the occasion and encouraged compliance with traffic laws.

Major General Al Nuaimi, accompanied by Brigadier Al Tair, honored partners from various government and private entities, as well as employees of the Traffic and Licensing Services Center who received the highest number of commendation and appreciation messages through the Government Services Observatory, Customer Pulse. The two officials, along with senior directors, department heads, and high-ranking officers, then toured the exhibition held alongside the event, which will continue until next Friday.
