Ras Al Khaimah Police Air Wing Featured on Al Ain Al Sahira Program

Over the past five years, the Ras Al Khaimah Police Air Wing Section has successfully carried out more than 880 missions across the emirate, ranging from search and rescue operations to providing support for government agencies.

Speaking on Al Ain Al Sahira, a program organized by the Media and Public Relations Department of Ras Al Khaimah Police in collaboration with the Ras Al Khaimah Government Media Office and the Radio Authority, Lieutenant Colonel Pilot Abdullah Ali Al Shehhi, Head of the Air Wing Section, highlighted the unit’s diverse operations. These missions align with the Ministry of Interior’s strategic goal of ensuring readiness in crisis and disaster management.

The Air Wing’s responsibilities include search and rescue missions in rugged terrain and valleys, rapid emergency response, medical evacuations, and transporting injured, sick, and elderly individuals to medical facilities. The unit also plays a crucial role in public security monitoring, disaster relief efforts, and coordinating with federal and local authorities for air evacuation operations and emergency response training.

With the seasonal increase in visitors to mountainous areas, the Air Wing has intensified patrols, enhanced crew training with simulated emergency drills, and equipped aircraft with advanced tools to ensure a swift response. In coordination with the Media and Public Relations Department, awareness campaigns are being launched to educate visitors on safety measures, including the use of smartphone applications to share their location in emergencies. The unit also works closely with the main operations room to handle incoming emergency reports efficiently.

Lieutenant Colonel Al Shehhi explained that the department’s members undergo specialized training courses and continuous education, implement periodic scenarios, and conduct a benchmarking comparison by visiting the aviation departments in the country’s police commands. He emphasized the importance of preparation for mountain-goers and tourists. He advised visitors to check weather conditions, inform family or friends about their itinerary, and carry essential gear such as sturdy footwear, first aid kits, flashlights, extra chargers, and adequate food and water. He also urged travelers to stick to designated trails, follow safety signs, and cooperate with rescue teams to ensure both their safety and that of emergency responders.
