The Media and Public Relations Department, in collaboration with the Criminal Investigation Department of Ras Al Khaimah Police, has initiated an awareness campaign titled "Electronic Fraud." This campaign aims to educate the public on the critical importance of safeguarding their personal data and bank account information to prevent fraudulent activities by individuals seeking illegal financial gains.
The campaign provides various tips, urging community members to secure their personal data, refrain from sharing sensitive information over the phone, and avoid purchasing from unreliable websites. It emphasizes verifying the authenticity of websites to ensure a secure digital environment.
Additionally, the campaign underscores the legal repercussions for committing electronic fraud, which include imprisonment for at least one year and fines ranging from AED 250,000 to AED 1 million.
