Al Rams Comprehensive Police Station in Ras Al Khaimah organized a “Customer Councils” event attended by social workers and a number of students from schools within the station’s jurisdiction. The event aimed to raise awareness about the dangers of cybercrime and cyber-extortion and to educate students on how to protect themselves from falling victim to such crimes. Colonel Ahmed Al Mazyoud Al Shehhi, Head of Al Rams Comprehensive Police Station, stated that organizing this event comes within the directives of the Ras Al Khaimah Police General Command to enhance awareness among all members of society about cybercrime and cyber-extortion, especially among school students—one of the primary target groups for these crimes due to their interest in electronic games and frequent internet use. He pointed out that attendees were also briefed on the customer services provided by the station, which aim to eliminate bureaucracy and deliver high-quality and efficient services, in line with the objectives of the Ministry of Interior and the directives of the Ras Al Khaimah Police General Command. He added that the event was attended and supported by representatives from the Criminal Investigation Department, the Social Support Center, and the Happiness Section at the station’s headquarters. The event shed light on the dangers of cyber-extortion and cybercrimes targeting school students, which pose a serious threat from offenders who commit these crimes covertly and remotely. The speakers stressed the importance of creating a safe online environment by educating students about potential risks and urging them to report any incidents of cyber extortion or cybercrime. The speakers also underscored the vital role of parents in raising awareness, educating, and monitoring their children, as this plays a crucial role in protecting them and preventing cyber extortion. They affirmed that Ras Al Khaimah Police mobilizes all its human expertise and material resources to enhance security and safety and to protect all segments of society, especially students, from exposure to cybercrimes or electronic extortion. The police also maintain open communication channels around the clock to receive reports, handle them professionally and confidentially, and take firm action against anyone who attempts to commit such crimes.
