The National Human Rights Institution organized an introductory workshop at the Ras Al Khaimah Police General Headquarters aimed at raising awareness and introducing the Commission’s role in protecting human rights in the country. Dr. Saeed Al Ghafli, Secretary-General of the Institution, welcomed the participants, which included a select group of officers from Ras Al Khaimah Police Stations and Correctional and Penal Establishment, along with their directors. He presented an overview of the establishment of the National Human Rights Institution and the law governing its work, emphasizing the importance of cooperation between law enforcement agencies and the Institution to ensure the integration of efforts and the sustainability of the human rights protection system nationwide. Abdulaziz Al Awbathani, Head of the Regional and International Organizations Department at the Institution, delivered a presentation on the Institution’s establishment, its partner government entities, as well as its objectives and mandate. Fatima Al Hosani, Head of the Awareness and Education Section at the Institution, provided a detailed presentation on the organization of field visits, their categories, and monitoring themes. The workshop also featured discussions on enhancing cooperation and establishing joint mechanisms to support the human rights system, particularly in areas related to law enforcement. It further addressed the Institution’s key mandates and responsibilities as an independent national body, in addition to its role in promoting legal awareness and strengthening a culture of human rights.
