Ras Al Khaimah Police Launches Awareness Campaign to Prevent Personal Data Leaks Online

The Ras Al Khaimah Police General Command, represented by the Media and Public Relations Department, in collaboration with the Criminal Investigation Department and the Community Protection and Prevention Department, has launched a campaign aimed at preventing personal data leaks on the internet. The initiative seeks to raise awareness about digital security and highlight the dangers associated with data breaches, such as electronic blackmail, identity theft, and financial fraud.

Authorities warned that weak passwords and unsecured online practices can lead to unauthorized access to bank accounts, credit cards, and personal information, which cybercriminals exploit for illicit financial gain, defamation, or reputation damage. Additionally, Ras Al Khaimah Police cautioned against fraudulent use of personal data, where criminals use an individual’s information without their knowledge to open bank accounts or credit cards, often leading to extortion and financial scams.

As part of the Ministry of Interior’s strategy to safeguard lives and property, the campaign encourages the public to adopt strong digital security measures, including:

✔ Using strong and unique passwords for all online accounts.

✔ Avoiding auto-fill password storage on devices.

✔ Being cautious about sharing sensitive information online.

✔ Implementing proper digital security protocols to prevent hacking attempts.

Ras Al Khaimah Police reiterated their commitment to enhancing cybersecurity awareness and ensuring a safe digital environment for all members of society.
