The Ras Al Khaimah Police General Command has announced a reduction in the maximum speed limit on Sheikh Mohammed bin Salem Street. The change applies to the stretch of road from Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Roundabout (Al Rafaa) to Al Marjan Island Roundabout, where the speed limit will be lowered from 100 km/h to 80 km/h. Consequently, radar enforcement on this road will adjust to a speed of 101 km/h instead of the previous 121 km/h, effective January 17.
Brigadier Ahmed Al Sam Al Naqbi, Director General of Central Operations at the Ras Al Khaimah Police General Command, stated that this decision aligns with the Ministry of Interior's strategy to enhance road safety through advanced traffic systems. The adjustment aims to create a safer and more secure driving environment.
Brigadier Al Naqbi explained that the primary objective of this change is to reduce the likelihood of accidents caused by excessive speed on this vital road. Sheikh Mohammed bin Salem Street serves as a critical route passing through residential, tourist, and commercial areas, including Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Roundabout, Al Riffa, Al Jazirah Al Hamra, Mina Al Arab, and Al Marjan. He emphasized that lowering the speed limit on this road is expected to significantly contribute to the safety of its users and visitors.
