Ras Al Khaimah Police General Command declared that seven individuals of various nationalities have been referred to the Public Prosecution since the beginning of 2025 until this day, after being monitored for publishing visual and written content containing footage of inappropriate practices, some of which were inaccurate, as well as false information and rumors that affect societal security and stir public opinion. These actions were carried out through social media platforms.
The police clarified that the Cybercrime section within the Criminal Investigations Department, through its electronic patrols, tracked digital accounts that disseminate misleading rumors designed to provoke public opinion, and it has taken legal measures against those promoting such content.
They emphasized that the published material included inappropriate practices, false claims, rumors, and inaccurate news, which constitutes a clear violation of the country’s laws related to combating rumors and false information.
Ras Al Khaimah Police reaffirmed their full commitment to protecting society security, and stressed that they will not tolerate any attempts to spread chaos or destabilize society by publishing inaccurate or misleading information.
They urged members of the public to obtain information from official sources and to refrain from reposting any unverified content.
It is worth noting that the law stipulates punishment for whoever uses the information network or any information technology means to broadcast, publish, republish, circulate or recirculate false news or data, or incorrect, biased, misleading or untrue reports or rumors, or that contradict what has been officially announced, or broadcast any provocative propaganda that may incite or arouse public opinion, disturb public security, spread terror among people, or cause harm to the public interest, the national economy, public order or public health.
